Better late than never

Happy New Year to those of you out in blogger land.

In natural self-styling, I get the urge to revamp my blog at quarter to ten! So just a quick post to apologise for being a bad blogger with promise of more to come soon.
Lovin this template, thank goodness for those with patience out there!

Bloody Technology

Perhaps when I was younger, back when I had that iota more patience than I do now, I could sit for hours staring at pixels and writing/rewriting code to make cool scroll over effects to manipulate a box to appear a certain way, only to rewrite it all two weeks later.
That is gone.
On the weekend, I conceded defeat and unplugged my modem from my PC to connect to my laptop to use skype. This pissed me off so fatally because I had previously and painfully created a wireless LAN and set up total secure wireless Internet, file and print sharing.
But eventually the novelty of the laptop wore off, and when I reignited it of course everything had gone to bollocks and for the life of me I don't know how I managed to network it because I don't remember this computer even having a network card.
I'd love to get it working again, but my motivation is ebbing low.

It reminds me of the fact that my phone is dying a slow and annoying death.
And I have now changed my mind from the Nokia N969 to the Samsung G810 (pictured) which is basically the same only 400 bucks cheaper and has a longer battery life.
I managed to send a rather rude sounding (when taken TOTALLY out of context) text message to the wrong person. FATAL ERROR.
Fortunately the text went to the best possible person, a rather liberal minded friend of mine, who found humour in situation, as opposed to say - the very Christian mother like figure from my previous work place.

I recently read that in Israel they had launched a 'Kosher Phone' to cater for the strict Orthodox Jewish community.

The handset has purportedly had the internet, SMS, video and voicemail facilities disabled. Naturally the press have made a misnomer, a device cannot actually be Kosker but it does have the cencorship seal of approval from the 'Rabbinical Committee for Communications'
On the upside the 'Kosher Phone' is cheaper if you call another 'Kosher Phone' (I guess many Hasidic Jews don't have too many Baptist friends) except for the Sabbath when you get $2.44 US per min! Thats hardcore

Loop Holes - part two

Well my loop hole has just slipped and chocked me, and as far as I am concerned have alienated scores of people who want to shift some unwanted clutter.

After stuffing up my cute ebay purchase, my seller said she would just readjust the invoice and I could simply pay fees incurred for listing the item. Excellent. Only problem being, now EBAY have revoked this feature.
So pressing my luck, I asked my seller if I could simply pay the $2.50 directly and then get her to make payment as received.
An awesome idea on my part because it would also confirm if my loophole was alive and kicking.
Apprently not.
Clearly because Ebay and PayPal are linked they are linking payment receipt directly into Ebay as a function.
Sneaky, greedy bastards.

This for me signals...

Life as a Scarf lover

Going into cooler weather I get excited at the plethora of new scarves proliferating the markets.
I bought a new scarf today :)
A light autumnal transitional scarf in pink and black check. Flipping through the masses of folded coloured scarves I came to just the right shade of pink, took it to the counter and purchased.

Get home, depackage scarf to reveal it is a 'desert scarf' or
Shemagh - I have inadvertently bought something trendy!! Oh no, I feel the immediate need to don my (non-existent) skinny jeans and walk around looking sullen, or morph into an aged Arab man or Che Guevara. It's not trying to look cool if I didn't realise RIGHT?
Trendoid factor aside, I didn't realise the symbolism of the item. The shemagh or keffiyeh is something of a symbol of Palestinian solidarity (which I don't have a problem with, lots of good people have come from Palestine) and Wikipedia have this to add;
As with other articles of clothing worn in wartime, such as the T-shirt and khaki pants, the keffiyeh has been seen as chic among non-Arabs in the West, who may be uninterested in politics, the military, or both.
Well bother it... I just like it, is that okay?

Life as a Cosmetic Surgeon

OH PRETTY!
Isn't it pretty? Don't you just love it?
No? Too pink & girly... Well hard fromage I am girly (sometimes) and as much as I loved Goldie and Perky (my two bloggy fishes) after 13 posts I had grown somewhat bored of them.

Have you even notice other people's grotty habits? (while of course remaining blithely unaware of your own, as it should be) Well I've seen some pearlers.
On the train this afternoon, I was sitting next to a woman filing her nails, which I must confess I have committed this cardinal sin but only to combat a hangnail.
I watched as she picked the muck from under her finger nails, and filed furiously feeling increasingly like Howard Hughes as the particles of nail filings whipped around the train carriage I imagined inhaling them and getting some sort of nail fungus lining my lungs.
Another time I stood waiting at a set of lights and happened to witness a lady in a shiny Lexus produce a pair of tweezers from the sun visor and pluck her chin hair out... in the car, at a busy intersection, in daylight. She'd clearly thought about this because she was prepared!
Like spitting on the street - YES I know that goes without saying but deserves a mention I feel.
Which leads me to a conclusion that Lexus or train it doesn't matter people are grotty inconsiderate filth-beasts.

Life as a job seeker

All my job seeking this year has yielded two very separate job types.
One; jobs which are totally boring and underpaidor
Two; jobs which are interesting for which I am totally unqualified.

Jobs in the first archetype are naturally in abundance, clogging up the Sydney metropolitan area because everyone knows they are boring. Duties include fetching coffee for boorish managers, repitious word processing for the unappreciative etc.

The second variety however is somewhat more elusive, and requires more sleuthing through the ‘hot sheets’ (as I have now named them) only to find that I have no qualifications for such interesting sounding jobs.
I am in fact qualified for type one boring jobs, and jobs of its ilk, and probably McDonalds… although might be too old to be starting at maccas, so I schedule an interview with a recruiter.

Sitting in the interview room, I started to feel like I was in sort of a career concentration camp.
The stark lighting, the torture chair (where I sit) and two opposing seats.
Sitting waiting for 25 minuets I notice two things - I appear to have been locked into this room - what if there is a fire? I will surely burn to death and secondly on the small skewed table there is a handy booklet called 'How to Wow; An Interview guide' (I kid you not) with handy little tidbits like 'dress conservatively' 'do show maturity' 'do be honest' and 'don't give one word answers.'
I honestly can't understand what use this book is when you're already in the interview, if you've stuffed it up it's too late and if you haven't started it's just going to confuse an already flustered state.
Just as I thought I was about to be sent off to the showers my interviewer comes in for a riveting talk about me for 40 mins... joy, my favorite subject for which I am best versed on.

Life as a girl

Once again hailing a new year has brought me to not only look back on the year past, but forward to my new present.(And to apparently start blogging again after many years out of the solo blogging saddle)
Last year, I was nothing short of busy.
I went on two holidays, I went over seas, I heavily dated two people at once, I seriously dated someone until he zapped off to another country with my heart, I got unintentionally weaved into a tangle of lies with a friends brother in law and celebrated Christmas by quitting my job and having a dalliance with a party goer in my cousins house.
This year I’ve already fired up with already dating somebody inappropriate who’s turned out not much better than a waste of a hair straightening who has blithely glossed over any future . What's worse is I was warned that this gentleman's intentions were less than pure, but thought perhaps things could turn out differently.
So I have now decided to embrace voluntary celibacy, okay not voluntary but perhaps as a better alternative and okay not real celibacy perhaps the words I need here are self restraint?
So this is me, and life as a girl.
