Birthday Plans, gone awry

Well I had an idea for my birthday.

I don't as a general rule, have massive plans for my birthday but I thought since it was the big 25 I'd put my back into it and PARTY.
Two options for my birthday came up, I made the call and finessed the idea.
Made and sent out invitations.
And then it all went to hell in a hand cart.
I found out that I had invited some people who I hadn't really mean't to invite and although I feel confident they would decline, I wouldn't know what to do with if they did attend.
So I recalled the invite (lol Indian giving, is especially amusing because the original place was Indian for a bollywood night) to later recreate it and correct this mistake.
Only to find that the venue had double booked my request!
So back to the second option!

E for Effort

Friendships take effort, there is no doubt about it.
Some friends who you seem to have a real bond with though, seem to take less effort that others, you WANT to see them.
You may WANT to see them so badly that when they move away you take a three hour train ride to visit them. How then does something happen that to damage this?

This seems to have happened with a very good friend of mine, and I couldn’t be more stumped.
Several weeks ago now, I invited said friend to a Hen’s night of an ex-colleague we had both worked with, thinking she would like to go and celebrate this occasion.
We organised everything, and I even managed to get another girl on board to share the accommodation expenses – winner!
Strange thing was, when she found out that the other girl was coming she pulled out. Not because she didn’t like her but because she could keep me company instead. At this juncture I was pissed off.

I hadn’t seen or gone out partying with her for a while and was looking forward to it. So I let myself cool down for a week before speaking again. A week turned into two weeks, and I then I sooked and though she should call.I got over it and made contact to call, no call. Again, and again. Still no call. Then once again, I arranged to call her and once again texted me to say she was going out.

What’s the go here... are we going through a break up?

The Storm Tropper Incident

Oh no.. not this kind.
The kind with far less ACTUAL power.

I had an 'incident' with a Sydney CityRail transit officer recently. I am always in possesion of a valid ticket, I buy tickets, like all the time - get it?

Why does Murphy's twisted and sick law dictate that the very day I change my jacket for casual Friday, happens to be the very day I leave it in my normal trench coat pocket and a proliferation transit officers decend upon Parramatta station.
So, panic-stricken I cast a look around and bunny hop in behind someone else, making a beeline to donate to the Salvation Army (an elaborate distraction and something I true to do when I see him.)
'Excuse me Miss, may I see your ticket?'
... Rats, the gig is up. I can't think of any plausible lie, grit my teeth and tell the truth.
I walk away with a $200 fine BUT FINGERS CROSSED that when reviewed I get off!

To make matters worse, I forgot the Salvo man too!

A very bad week

I ate nothing but vegetables and drank water today to atone for the half block of Kit Kat Chocolate Overload, Two chocolate doughnuts and majority of Peanut M&M's packet I have eaten over the last three days.

It is so cliched to need chocolate when Aunt Flo comes to town.

Inappropriate? Or Misinterpreted

So the question I am wondering here is, who will play the part of scapegoat in this Miley Cyrus Vanity Fair photo "scandal"? Coming not to long after her MySpace photo faux pas.
And scapegoats aside what is the real issue here?
I was blissfully unaware of what a Miley Cyrus was until the Hannah Montana movie was released, and now she has a wholesome scandal on her hands it seems she will be further thrust upon us.
The photo is whatever you make of it. Miley is seemingly nude and covered by a sheet, dishevelled and pouting. Leibovitz has always claimed that she uses nudes to create; 'an instant intimacy'
While I do find it inappropriate considering Miley is only 15, but not outrageous and all else aside I think it's a good photo.
It is reported that Leibovitz snapped photos with Miley's parents onset, then more after they left.
Is this a case of obviously sinister morally bankrupt Leibovitz taking advantage of a no brain girl who's parents who named her Destiny Hope Cyrus disappear opportunely or more of a case of a curious and savvy young woman, given an opportunity now left to apologize for her coming of age and perhaps back pedal a little?
'I was so honored and thrilled to work with Annie [Leibovitz]. I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed.' - No word on what the accompanying article is - don't these people get to see the spread before it goes to press?
If I were the mother of a young tween girl I probably find it difficult to deal with (and would discourage my child from watching that pap anyway) but think I'm too old to identify with Miley, and to young for a parental uprise.
"I'm sorry that my portrait of Miley has been misinterpreted," says Leibovitz in a statement.

Life as a Channel surfer

I REMEMBER! I was mounting my high horse to talk about this guy;

Wayne Carey, was on Enough Rope with Andrew Denton last night.
I respect Andrew Denton as an interviewer, Enough Rope has seen such subjects as Dr Jane Goodall, Michael Parkinson, Elton John, Crowded House, Phil from Grinspoon, Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Bob Geldof etc
Sure it's had some low points as well, Delta Goodrem and aforementioned Bill Clinton (amazing how you can still be a figure head and on the con list) but last night he had Wayne Carey.

I object to this guy. I object to what he did to his wife (although for pushing my family off the swing set and breaking her arm she might have had it coming), I object to how he has marred his career by choosing drugs and alcohol, and now this most recent scandal involving his girlfriend is too much.
It's a bit of a catch 22, I totally resent his media coverage yet feel compelled to blog about this goit. Last night he was sort of babbling on to Andrew Denton, about his career and dalliances with other footballers wives. In response to Andrew's questioning about New Idea's article and reported $118,000 payment in return.
Andrew asked point blank if he was paid for the NI article, Carey said no but his mannerisms, body language and tone all seemed like a lie to me.
Watch the video here, unfortunately the questionable NI section isn't in this excerpt but hopefully we will start to see a lot less of this twerp.

Life as a Easter bunny

Happy Easter!
Wee isn’t Easter a lovely time? Almost as fun as Christmas, I remember Easter egg hunts at my cousins house, following my Uncle around convinced that he as going to inadvertently show us the location of all the eggs. He was a tough hider!!
Last year (or year before) we did another egg hunt for the littlies and I walked past a tree the following day and spotted an egg which had been missed – MINE!
As little bunnies and baby chicks nestle about looking adorable and little girls go looking for Easter eggs in giant red tulips I am afraid I have something very serious to discuss.
It is the evil scourge of the world of which I speak.

FRUITLESS HOT CROSS BUNS!! Hot cross buns with no fruit? On purpose?
We very excitedly rose this morning to dive into our fresh hot cross buns which had been smelling divine in the kitchen since we bought them.
Taking four out of the pack, I popped them into the microwave to prepare to butter them warm. As I split into it… NO FRUIT! Must be an error in this bun, a faulty bun.
All four buns, no fruit…. Only to my dismay do I see the Woolworth label reads ‘Fruitless Hot Cross Buns.’ Why? Is this a sick joke?
That's one of my favorite parts, and without the fruit it was nothing more than an unpalatable brown bun thing with a bit of cross on top.
