Yahoo? We lost $458m but its ok

So what Yahoo! have reported a US $303 million dollar lost, in the last three months alone of 2008? CEO Carol Batrz still has a peppy optimism about 2009 saying ‘We have work to do, but I am excited by Yahoo’s! Opportunities.’

I guess she’d want to be or the share holders will lynch her. What a frightening thought that companies that that much to lose!Like the German billionaire, Adolf Merckle, who committed suicide after his empire ‘ran into trouble’ with this recent financial crisis. It was been reported he ran up losses of about 400m euros - $535m!! After a loss on Volkswagon shares.

Even haute couture is suffering, with people becoming self proclaimed ‘rescissionistas’ and glossy mags publishing ‘Recessionista Fabulous’ articles!!

It seems everyone is getting wise to the ‘belt tightening’ except our fat friend, Ronald. McDonalds that is reporting an 80 per cent profit rise!
How would you like the $US 4.3 billion dollars that they made in 2008?

I must confess, working in the confectioney industry, we haven't felt any slow down. If nothing else we are going very well, as is evident, people get depressed and eat junk food!

Let's do the time warp again?

I heard news that shocked me to the core this evening.
After a feeling of queasy trepidation subsided, I launched into full tilt research mode.

Word around the traps is that MTV is part producing Brit-American remake of The Rock Horror Picture Show.
E!
have even touted Marilyn Manson as Frank N Furter in the remake. In all honesty, this part almost relieves me to the thought that they are doing a remake, period.
Sure the guy is weird, but it's all show and that's what Frank needs.
I don't think there is a shred of truth to that section of the rumor, because I have also heard that Marilyn Manson in to play the Queen of Hearts in a dark Alice in Wonderland called Living in Neon Dreams.
Turns out that Manson is instead, apparently directing a phantasmagoric Alice redux.

Of course I immediately go to the font of all knowledge. IMDB. What this site does not know isn't worth knowing.
IMDB knows nothing, but apparently 'Riff Raff Curses MTV's Rocky Horror Remake' -- Richard O'Brien, scorning a bubblegum manufactured money making mammoth, who'da thunk?

Manson - an interesting Frank choice or a total f*** nightmare?

I've always found him somewhat intriguing (Evan Rachel Wood debacle aside) but others say repulsed.
If you've ever heard the man speak he does so with conviction and intelligence.

Moving RIGHT along

Moving RIGHT along from last nights rant... to a little pampering.

Does anyone have a really terrific under eye dark circle treatment?
I knew the standard ones, cucumber (which I will trial as soon as we have cucumber) and tea bags which I think sounds awesful so I decided to research a little bit;

Clearly there seem to be more sensical ideas than others around.

I really need to get a good book to read (to avoid wondering about this sort of thing), I've just finished Schapelle Corby - My Story.
So far what I know to be true; Schapelle was arrested at Denpasar Airport with 4.1 or 4.2 kilo's of cannibis in her boogie board bag when travelling to Bali.
She was sentenced on May 27th 2005 to and finalised at 20 years in prison and ordered to pay a fine of 100,000,000 rupiah ($11701.60).
Release date is July, 2024 after two months remissions.
All of the other stuff that is reported, I do not know.
I have always thought it was exceedingly suspicious that one would risk thier life both importing something which is cheaper to buy in Bali, where the Indonesian judical system so radically different to our own.

I suppose guilty or not she is stuck in a third world gaol which makes me feel a little less silly for having my suitcase Protectabagged at Phuket airport.

Have to see what's happening in the world

My Dad always made me watch the news when I was a kid, there was no Neighbours or Home and Away (for which I feel eternally grateful now) and when I asked why he said 'Because we have to see what's happening in the world.'
I am sure we would have watched nine news, and honestly cannot remember the quality of the news but wonder if it is of the same substance now.
Ninemsn headlines currently include; (as of this very current moment)
Naomi Campbell spitting on a police officer seems to have made top billing top story, and yet Zimbabwe finally ousting Robert Mugabe after 28 years of callous and officious ruling seems to have made no dent.
Seems that Mugabe finally unable to cheat his way back into Parliament isn't exciting enough for them... maybe I am being to hard on them? Maybe it was yesterday's story?
Yes, they seem to have run one story yesterday... Mugabe to fight to the last and another buried in today's news Mugabe should have quit long ago: Fraser which seems to be whoring itself as a news article everywhere because it features in thewest.com.au, news.com.au, smh.com.au, theaustralian.com.au, Yahoo, Primus and Google news.

Well a little bit of genuine international news is obviously too much to ask for... guess I'm going to have to start watching the 7.30 report on ABC1 or something.
